China´s export powerhouse continued in July, with textile and apparel exports reaching 17.37 billion U.S. dollars, which was up 28.11 percent from the previous year and reflected a new monthly record. Apparel exports accounted for 12.15 billion U.S. dollars and textiles 5.22 billion. September 2006 through July 2007 cumulative textile and apparel exports totaled 143.53 billion U.S. dollars, reflecting 21.73 percent year-on-year growth.
China´s textile and apparel export growth is being fueled by record investment in new plants and infrastructure. China´s textile and apparel cities now offer complete management of the manufacturing process from design to packaging and shipping. The operational efficiency offered and the quality available has enabled exports to expand, even though the average export price is continuing to increase. So far, reduced VAT tax rebates have not significantly impacted the process.
