Brazil’s apparel production rises 12.34% in first 2 months

Apparel and accessories production in Brazil registered a growth of 12.34 percent during the months of January and February, 2014, compared to the same period last year, as per the data released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
According to the IBGE Indicators Report for February 2014, production of clothing and accessories in the country during the month of February registered a surge of 27.40 percent, compared to the same month in 2013.
The highest production was registered in the segments of pants, shirts, knitwear, cotton dresses and bathwear as well as nightwear, as per the IBGE report.
However, on a month-on-month basis, garment and accessories production in the country registered a rise of 3.4 percent, during the month of February, 2014.
Meanwhile, as per the IBGE report, textile production in the country recorded a growth of 0.67 percent during the months of January and February 2014, compared to the same period last year.
During the month of February, production of textiles in Brazil registered a growth of 3.83 percent, compared to the same month last year, whereas on a month-on-month basis, textile production in the country registered a decline of 0.1 percent during the month of February, 2014.
